A quick explanation
An AI game is a game that uses artificial intelligence — either to power what's inside it (characters that talk, worlds that generate, stories that react to you) or to make the game itself, from a text prompt. The first kind has been around for decades in the form of smart enemies and NPCs. The second kind is new: platforms like AI Dungeon, Astrocade and Sekai now build whole playable games from a single description, which is why “AI games” has become a category of its own. If you want to play one right now, everything linked above is free to start in your browser.
Start with the interaction you want. AI Dungeon fits a long story that responds to typed decisions. Astrocade is better when you want to browse finished community creations or turn a prompt into something playable. Sekai suits shorter mini-games, quizzes and remixable stories. Generated play is less predictable than a hand-authored game; that freedom is the appeal, and the occasional need to restate a detail is the trade-off.
