A story that responds to anything you type

AI Dungeon replaces a fixed dialogue tree with a generated adventure. You can describe an action, speak as your character, or steer the narration, and the model writes what happens next. That open input is the central mechanic: the story can follow a familiar genre or move in a direction that no author pre-scripted.

The official site presents it as an AI-powered text adventure with community scenarios as well as tools for creating your own settings. A clear premise usually gives the model more to work with, but there is no single correct command and no required route through a story.

How to start an adventure

Begin with a ready-made scenario if you want to play immediately. When you write an action, include the important object, person, or goal instead of relying on a one-word command. You can also use dialogue to establish relationships and add details that you want the next turns to remember.

AI Dungeon is free to start in a web browser, although the service can ask you to create an account and offers paid features. Because each continuation is generated, tone and continuity can vary from one turn to the next. Treat unexpected turns as part of the improvisation, or restate a detail when the story drifts.
