A naval game about defeating enemy ships across ten stages
Playable here on GameWren. The game is served by the creator’s official host inside this page; GameWren does not rehost its files.
Ocean War is a light naval level game. You steer a warship, defeat every enemy ship, and use radar to find them. There are 10 sea battles. The target in each stage is to beat from 1 up to 10 enemy ships, and the last stage is the creator's joke about taking all ten. Leo_Sango wrote that a measured run can be cleared in about 10 minutes. There is a ranking, and you can chase your own fastest clear. The buffs named on the page are a medkit, an invincibility star, and extra shells.
The page says Ocean War supports phone touch and a desktop browser, with nothing to install. The author notes it is their first time publishing on itch.io and asks to be told if something should be fixed. Status is Released. Genre is Action. Tags are 2D, acrade (spelled that way on the page), Casual, naval, and Singleplayer. The account name is Leo_Sango. The Chinese title on the same line is the second half of Ocean War.
A comment on the itch.io page, from Bbeol Arcade, says they tried two voyages and did not clear the first stage. They said the curved ocean and separate port and starboard shots give Ocean War a distinct feel, and that switching between fan fire and line fire changes the aiming area. They found it hard to line up a broadside while an enemy circled, and asked for a slower practice encounter. Leo_Sango replied that they would look at a practice mode or at making the cannons larger and easier to aim, and thanked the player. The player answered that the trouble was keeping the ship lined up, not seeing the cannons, and that learning steering and broadside timing separately would help.
Read that exchange as a report, not as a patch note. Ocean War does not, in the creator's own feature list, name fan fire, line fire, port, or starboard. A player described those controls after playing, and the creator did not contradict them. A practice mode is something Leo_Sango said they would consider. It is not listed as a mode you can select today. If you cannot find it, that matches the page.
If you only remember one route through Ocean War, use this one. Start a stage, use the radar to find the ships you have to sink, spend the buffs when a voyage is going badly, and finish the stage before you chase the clock. Then do the next, up to the tenth, where the number of enemy ships is the largest. The curved sea and the separate left and right shots are how one player said aiming feels. Practice, if it appears later, would be a change to Ocean War, and it would show up on the itch.io page first.
Clear Ocean War once before you care about the ranking. The creator's own measured time, about ten minutes for the whole set, is a target for someone who already knows the ship, not a limit that kicks you out. Radar is there so you are not hunting blind. The medkit, the star, and the extra shells are the only pickups named, so a voyage that never shows one of them is still inside the description. Phone players have touch. Desktop players have the browser. Either way you are on the creator's page, not on a file this site downloaded for you. When a shot pattern is confusing, the comment already on the page is the best outside note: fan and line change the area you aim, and turning the hull while someone circles is the hard part. A slower practice fight is a request, and the reply was that it would be looked at.
