Connate for PlayDate

A Playdate puzzle: the crank moves, and down on the D-pad shoots.

Connate for PlayDate

A radial game that left Radiata

Connate for Playdate is a spin-off from RADIATA, which scumbly describes as a free controller-based radial launcher still in development. Connate was one of Radiata's built-in Arcade games. The reasons it could stand alone, in the creator's words, are the radial design, the quick pick-up-and-put-down play, and the uncomplicated controls. After more work it became its own game. Connate for Playdate is meant to feel at home on the Playdate crank, and you can use the D-pad instead if you prefer.

How you get it onto a Playdate

Because the crank is the movement and down on the D-pad is the shot, a session of Connate for Playdate is as long as those two inputs stay interesting. The creator calls that pick-up-and-put-down. There is no published stage list, score table, or enemy name. The tutorial is the place those details live, inside the game. If you skip the tutorial, you still have the one-line control scheme. Prefer the D-pad for movement only if you do not want the crank. The page says that option exists. It does not say the D-pad replaces the shot. Down still shoots in the sentence they wrote.

After it is on the device

Sideloading is a Playdate habit, not a special step invented for this build. The official help page is the one the creator linked, and it is the page that knows the current cable and launcher steps. Once the game is on the device, movement and the shot are the only inputs the listing promises. Use the crank for a while before you decide the D-pad is better. Down remains the shot in the sentence they published, so a menu that rebinds that button would be a change you discover in the tutorial, not a rule to assume. The tutorial is optional only in the sense that the creator said you can dive in. Diving in still means those two inputs.

In development means the creator has not called it finished. A missing score screen or a short tutorial would fit that label. The comment that simply says great does not add mechanics. Puzzle, 2D, and the crank tag are the shelves. There is no browser fallback described, so a phone browser will not run it. The file transfer is the play action. After it is installed, the listing has done its job, and the tutorial inside the game is the longer manual.
