Semantris asks for a clue related to one of the words in play. A language model compares that clue with the whole board and ranks the possible matches by semantic similarity. The mechanic is about meaning: the answer does not need to share letters with the target or fit a traditional crossword pattern.
Direct associations are the safest starting point, but the most useful clue is also one that does not fit several other words on the board. A category, common phrase, place, action, or descriptive property can all work when the connection is specific enough.
Google introduced Semantris as a set of word-association games powered by machine learning and semantic search. The model's ranking changes the board after every entry, turning natural-language understanding into the rule that drives the score and pace.
The game is free and keyboard-based in the browser. It is easy to begin because any word or short phrase can be a clue, yet its mistakes are as revealing as its matches: two terms that feel far apart to a player may sit close together in the model's learned representation.
