Mergeopolis — PICO-8 Demake

A city built one merge at a time

Mergeopolis compresses a city builder into a 128 × 128 PICO-8 world. Move buildings around the island and connect at least three of the same kind to create an upgrade, collect coins, and make room for the next piece.

Groups of five or nine produce larger upgrades, but they also demand more space before the merge happens. The long-term goal is to build all three level-six landmarks: a Condo, Office Park, and Robotics Plant.

Protect open land

Use the arrow keys to move the cursor. Z or C picks up and places a building or buys land, while X or V cancels an action and toggles the help panel. Mouse controls are also available, and the wheel or minus and plus keys change the zoom.

A first placement changed the board immediately and raised the visible coin total from 300 to 350. Before completing a merge, check where the upgraded building will fit; a valuable new structure can still leave the remaining city awkward to rearrange.

Play the official browser build

The city autosaves in the browser, so a short session can continue later on the same device. Shops and factories unlock as the settlement grows, giving the compact board more competing shapes to accommodate.
